Scoopr ("we", "us", or "our") connects ice cream van owners with nearby customers. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Scoopr app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Scoopr, you agree to the practices described here.
Location data
Scoopr uses your device's location to show your position on the map and let nearby ice cream vans know where to find you.
- Customers share their location when dropping a pin to request a visit from a van.
- Van owners choose when to broadcast their live location so it appears on nearby customers' maps; location sharing can be turned off at any time from within the app.
- Location is only collected while the app is in use (foreground), and is not collected in the background.
- You can revoke location access at any time in your device's Settings. If you do, Scoopr's core map features will no longer work.
- We do not sell your location data to third parties.
Push notifications
With your permission, Scoopr sends push notifications for two events only:
- A customer requests a visit from a van owner.
- A van owner accepts (or declines) a customer's request.
We do not send marketing notifications. You can disable notifications at any time in your device's Settings, or from within the app.
User accounts
To use Scoopr, you create an account (as a customer or a van owner). Account information may include your email address, name, and account type, which we use to authenticate you, match requests between customers and van owners, and operate the notification features described above.
- Account and request data is stored securely with our backend provider and is not shared with third parties for advertising purposes.
- You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email address below.
How we use your information
We use the information described above solely to operate Scoopr's core features: showing vans and requests on the map, matching customers with nearby van owners, and delivering the notifications you've opted into. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
Data sharing
We share data only with the service providers that help us run Scoopr (for example, our backend and notification infrastructure), and only to the extent needed to provide the app's features. These providers are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if required to do so by law.
Data retention
We retain account and request data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable time, except where retention is required for legal or security purposes.
Children's privacy
Scoopr is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your choices
- Control location access and notification permissions from your device Settings at any time.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us.
- Delete your account from within the app, or by emailing us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Scoopr after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
